Tips for success
- Use overripe bananas for this recipe. Riper banana means sweeter banana bread.
- You can use all-purpose flour for this recipe if you do not have whole wheat flour, but the texture will be different.
- When cooking in an air fryer, you need to cover the cake pan for the first 15 minutes for the cake to cook evenly. If you do not cover the pan, your banana cake will be raw in the middle and overcook on the top.
- As a general baking tip, do not overmix batter after adding dry ingredients. Instead, fold your batter in with Spatula.
- Use a buttered, parchment paper-lined baking pan.
How long does to cook Banana Bread in an Air fryer?
Depending on your air fryer model, the timing for cooking banana bread will vary. For example, I have a Gourmia basket model air fryer, and it took 25 minutes at 320°F to cook the banana bread to perfection in an 8-inch loaf pan.
If you want to shorten the duration of cooking banana bread, use an 8-inch circle cake pan and decrease the cooking time by 10 minutes.
However, use this cooking time as a guideline, and do not forget to check your banana bread before the last 5 minutes to prevent them from overcooking.
Storage guideline
You can place leftover banana bread in an airtight container and refrigerate it for 2-3 days. When you are ready to serve the next day, warm it up in the microwave or consume it as it is.
Can you freeze Air Fryer Banana bread?
Yes, you can freeze air fryer banana bread if you want to serve it later. First, let banana bread completely cool down. Then wrap it and freeze it for up to a month.
When you are ready to serve, defrost it in the refrigerator and then slice it for serving.
If you like your banana bread, warm them, you can place the frozen banana bread loaf in a pan and air fryer them covered for 5-10 minutes. It will taste like freshly baked banana bread.
FAQs
Why is my Air Fryer banana bread not moist?
If you do not cover your banana bread while backing in the air fryer, it will become dry and wet in the middle. Also, the flour to banana ratio is key in this recipe. If you put too much flour, your banana bread will be dry. And if you use too many bananas, your bread will be wet.
What makes Air fryer banana bread dense?
The overmixing of banana batter can result in a loaf of dense banana bread. This is because when you overmix the batter, gluten is released. The more gluten the batter has, the denser your banana bread will be.
Why is my Air fryer banana bread still gooey in the middle?
The rule of thumb for cooking casserole dishes in the air fryer is to cover them with aluminum foil for the first 10-15 minutes. Covering the pan with aluminum foil allows the banana cake to cook evenly in an air fryer.
If you do not allow enough time for banana bread to cook in the air fryer and take it out of the air fryer, it will be gooey in the middle. So, before you take out the pan from the air fryer, insert the skewer in the middle, and if it comes out clear, it is fully cooked. Otherwise, allow 5-10 more minutes for cooking.
